DECORATIVE PAINTING

I love to explore and experiment with new techniques and methodologies that can fuel my desire for knowledge and stimulate my creativity, giving me the opportunity to improve my professional offer and make it progress towards higher and more competitive levels

My name is Veronica Giorgetti and I am the founder of a creative business called  “NON SOLO ARTE” .

I graduated in decorative painting from the Academy of Fine Arts in Rome and over the past 20 years I have cultivated a career that has seen me involved in a constant production of custom paintings, set paintings, decorative painting projects and more recently in the conservation and restoration of works of art on canvas, wooden panels, frescos and masonry.

By moving to the States from my country of origin, Italy, I began and consolidated contacts in the art world that lead me to this day working as an artist studio assistant and at the same time carrying out independent visual art, decoration and restoration projects.

I love exploring and experimenting techniques and methodologies that can fuel my desire for knowledge and stimulate my creativity, increasing my chances to deliver my professional offer to a higher and more competitive level.

I will be happy to discuss with you any project you have in mind, whether it is a restyling of your current interiors or a new look. I invite you to browse the proposed sections on this page so that you can better understand what I do and with a bit of luck, stimulate your creativity and evaluate a future collaboration together.

DECORATIVE PAINTING

Decoration is the use of elements that serve to embellish any context or environment.

The current practice of Decoration, suitable for interior or exterior places, takes inspiration from classic motifs or references from the ancient and modern themes, and re elaborate them according to a more contemporary style and trends.

The decorations and decorative effects add a touch of elegance and harmony to the space and walls, enhancing the style that best meets one’s own needs.

Exploring this section you will find some examples of decorations performed on walls, ceilings and furnishing elements that show a range of finishes adapted according to styles, to the place of execution and preferences requested by the client.

Each Decoration is custom designed and executed following the specific customer requests.

WORKS

Gilding

Gilding is the art or process of applying gold leaf, gold powder or a substance like gold to a surface which has been previously coated with ad adhesive, also called “size”.

The 4 most commonly used gilding techniques are:

OIL GILDING – This technique can provide a beautiful surface coating of matte gold. It is applied over any surface previously sealed, with the use of an oil based size.

WATER GILDING – Generally performed onto a porous surface like wood, coated with several layers of Gesso, Bolo and animal glue, before the application of the metal leaf.

This golden surface can then be left matte or burnished to a mirror-like sheen.

GLASS GILDING or VERRE ÉGLOMISÉ – Specifically applied on glass.

This decorative technique involves applying a design and gilding to the back of a glass, to create a mirror-like finish. The gilded surface can then be distressed, etched, oxidized or painted, depending on the final effect that it’s meant to be achieved.

ACRYLIC SIZE GILDING – A more modern technique which involves the use of acrylic sizes, water and alcohol based, that require shorter curing time before the application of the metal leaf and a faster execution of the job.

By exploring this section you will see a number of examples where the gilding process has been applied, using all the techniques above described.

WORKS

Custom Projects

Custom Projects are all those design projects carried out according to specific customer requests. Similar to the approach adopted in the execution of interior and exterior decorative painting projects, in this case the work is carried out on mobile supports that can then be installed on the wall or ceiling, or it involves objects decorated with a specific purpose such as gift boxes, lamps, cladding panels, furniture and so on.

WORKS

Set painting

Scenography is an art that consists of the creation of visual and sound elements in a film, television, radio or theater show.

A component of traditional scenography is set painting, generally performed by the scenic artist, who is responsible for reproducing images, characters and spatial environments capable of recreating the atmosphere required by the particular scene in question. This is usually performed on large and mobile surfaces, which can be set up and transported at each scene change.

The skills required to the scenic artist are generally similar to those of the decorative painter, whose knowledge of color theory, the ability to reproduce faux finishes and manual dexterity make it possible to create the scenographic system.

WORKS

How I work

1. Initial consultation

Initial consultation in which the client presents the idea, preferences or decorative requests that he/she wishes to develop. In this stage it is essential to provide the dimensions of the space in which the design will be developed and the style currently in existence or that is intended to be created. Usually a plan of the architectural space helps to define all the characteristics necessary for a more accurate execution of the decorative proposal. If the proposal is aimed at movable objects, it may not be necessary to provide a blueprint.

2. Decorative proposal

In this second phase, decorative suggestions are developed and indication of costs will be provided. Based on the complexity of the project and the specifications requested by the client, samples of materials and techniques can be made and more or less detailed sketches or renderings can be elaborated, through which the character of the decorative layout can be refined in accordance with the client's tastes.

3 Implementation

The third and final stage consists in the implementation of the approved project. This will be carried out on site in the case of wall, ceiling or floor decorations. When the chosen design is intended for a mobile support, it will be possible to evaluate the execution of the work in my studio, to then be transported and installed on site.
